Hedge Against Risk

Projects that use more energy resources to achieve more desired outcomes are more likely to succeed when planners pay attention to technical and commercial complexity upfront.

Standardized Framework

Mayfield takes a standard, universal approach to feasibility, checking off risks, milestones, and deliverables so all projects gain an actionable roadmap straight through the development timeline.

For All Ownership and Financing Structures

Mayfield layers scope items on top of deliverables while retaining our standard five-phase structure to feasibility for public projects, third-party financed projects, and projects owned directly by the energy offtaker.

Cascadia Renewables — 02.06.2026

A Community-Driven Island Microgrid

One of the northernmost parts of the continental U.S., Orcas Island is roughly three hours (by car and ferry) from downtown Seattle and is connected to the mainland by a single undersea transmission line. Extreme weather events and grid outages can leave locals stranded for extended periods of time. To protect their uniquely vulnerable infrastructure, the San Juan County Emergency Management (SJCEM) agency identified the Orcas Center as a facility that could function as a resiliency hub in an emergency. The location was conveniently central and well known community gathering place. The issue, however, was that the Orcas Center did not have the energy resources required to function as an island-able microgrid system. With a site (Orcas Center) and primary goal (energy resilience) in mind, SJCEM set out to find the right mix of distributed energy resources to achieve key performance benchmarks while staying within space and budgetary constraints. In other words, this island facility was interested in “islanding” from the grid.

Securing Capital: Framing Your System for Financiers in the Mid-Market

Commercial and industrial energy projects account for the largest share of the addressable market for distributed energy resources (DERs), yet they remain among the most difficult segments to finance. CleanSource Capital, the specialty finance affiliate of the Abundant Power Group based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has spent over a decade financing environmental sustainability projects, including […]
